Today's class - 3D Modeling Basics.
Nearly made me slap myself and puke blood.
We learn polygon texturing and I can say that I hate the method. You can't ran away from it, unless you choose to do Nurbs la.
It's more complicated than Nurb texturing and if you ever model anything with polygons and simply choose to Combine the whole object, you might want to kill yourself first. Trust me, listen to what Mr. Jason said - "Don't simply combine your objects or you are gonna have problem while texturing!"
Damn, he was so right! I might wanna re-model my spanar. Pipe wrench? Not sure yet.
Polygons texturing got extra steps to take before assigning the texture itself. It involves UVs, as in the edges. For an example, we created a cube (3D) and you would need to open it up where you see all the surfaces flat on the plane. Sounds easy? Well, that's just cube! What about more complicated objects? Heh Heh Heh...
But now, at least I understand better after learning how to "skin" the 3D rack given by Mr. Jason. Yes, just like how the hunters skin the animals.
I wonder what other users have to say about this, particularly the beginners like me. Do you prefer Nurbs or Polygon when it comes to texturing?
Nurbs can be easy but I believe we sometimes do not just want to "wrap" the whole object with one same repeating texture right?
Opinions, anyone?
